…has been a world leader throughout it’s relatively short 250-year history, and during humanity’s most glorious and most challenging times, it has risen to be a beacon of freedom to the world.  To acknowledge and honor that history, both good and bad, the Mount Sharon National Monument project is dedicated to preserving all chapters of the American story - forever.

In the Black Hills of South Dakota, one of the most beautiful and inspiring areas of the country, Mount Sharon will join other national monuments and parks as a unique emblem of America’s rich culture and history.  It will explore the nation’s story, both glorious and gritty, in ways that bring contemplation, healing and unity to Americans. It will also excite and encourage the imagination of future American generations.
